How many Head Teachers do you know who are still at the same school, working with the same enthusiasm and with the best interest of all her pupils and staff after ......30 years! We know a fantastic one and her name is Mrs Ann McLanachan. At the helm of Longniddry she is a beacon in the Authority.
This is reflected in the outstanding academic achievements of the school and the regard with which it is held within Scotland. She is a true advocate of devolved management, allowing her staff the freedom to try our new ideas, to take risks and distributing the highly complex tasks of running a school. Many, many teachers at Longniddry have gone on to become Heads and Deputes due to the part Ann has played in their career development.
Over her career she has worked for the Inspectorate, established Learning Teams throughout the authority and been a mentor and guide for countless fellow Head teachers. Even after 39 years of teaching she is still enthusiastic and forward thinking. Ann McLanachan is the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
