Anne Paterson, Inveraray Primary School, Argyll and Bute

Anne Paterson has been described by both teachers and pupils as making teaching and learning fun.  Anne is the inspirational leader of Inveraray Primary and Pre-Five Unit.  Her educational beliefs can be summed up as a desire to prepare our young people for tomorrow’s challenges.

Anne believes that to be effective, education should be available and meaningful for all and should encompass current research.  Her commitment to the environment and the important part it plays in the education and development of children has led to a highly creative use of school grounds.  The school grounds development came through Anne’s skill in working with other agencies.  This is driven by her desire to offer the children the widest possible opportunities.

Anne operates a genuine open-door policy for parents and the wider community and also provides many opportunities throughout the year for the community to share in the life of the school.  The team of teachers at Inveraray feel that Anne’s management is outstanding and her contribution to education is inspirational.
