Anyone walking into Pilrig Park School immediately senses a happy, caring and enthusiastic environment, a school that is ‘determined to succeed’.
Bill Lothian, the school support officer, is the embodiment of that ethos. Bill has such a variety of skills the term ‘janitor’ only briefly touches on the extent to which he affects the daily running of the school. He started the breakfast club and is an active supporter of the Healthy Lifestyle approach within the school. Bill is heavily involved in various activities around the school including running a cycling group, running a first aid course, and displaying his musical talents with the school orchestra during the Christmas and Easter services. This is of course in addition to being Santa. He is a co-opted member of the School Board where he is invaluable regarding building concerns and improvements. ‘No’ is not a word that seems to exist in his vocabulary, he is always ready to assist and help where needed.
