Scottish Education Awards

Global Citizenship Award

This category recognises how children and young people are being encouraged to be responsible citizens in a local, national and international context.

If you can respond positively and in some detail to the following questions, we would welcome your nomination.

  • How are children and young people given opportunities to become active and responsible citizens in your school or pre-school?

  • How are children and young people encouraged to become active citizens within their local community and to promote good links between the school and the community?

  • How are children and young people supported in developing an understanding of different traditions, beliefs and cultures and to develop informed ethical views?

  • What initiatives have children and young people been involved in to promote global citizenship and understanding of Scotland’s place in the world; or to encourage an understanding of the international dimension to citizenship?

  • What are the outcomes of these approaches in terms of impact on children and young people, the whole-school community and the wider community?

Nominations for the 2010 Scottish Education Awards are now closed.
