03 Scottish Education Awards

Enterprise and Employability Across Learning Award (Secondary)

This category recognises the schools that are helping children and young people develop the necessary skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work, essential to learning and education under Curriculum for Excellence. The award will focus on the development of enterprise and employability skills and the significant role that employers play in partnership with schools to provide a context for learning. (The award will recognise both the school and the partner employer.)

If you can respond positively and in some detail to the following questions, we would welcome your nomination.

  • In what ways are you ensuring all children and young people have an entitlement to opportunities to develop skills for learning, life and work?

  • How are these skills being developed across all curriculum areas, in interdisciplinary studies and in all the contexts and settings where children and young people are learning?

  • How are you ensuring children and young people are aware of, and understand, the value of the skills they are developing?

  • In what ways are you involving employers in the development of enterprise and employability skills and attitudes in our children and young people?

  • How have employer partnerships made a positive impact on the children and young people, staff (of the school and the employer) and the community as a whole?

Nominations for the 2010 Scottish Education Awards are now closed.
