Literacy and Numeracy Across Learning

This category recognises schools and pre-schools that have developed effective approaches to embedding the development of literacy and/or numeracy skills across all areas of learning.

If you can respond positively and in some detail to the following questions, we would welcome your nomination.

• In what ways do practitioners in your school develop and reinforce literacy and/or numeracy skills of children and young people across the curriculum?

• What aspects of literacy and/or numeracy are being developed through interdisciplinary learning?

• In what ways do these approaches meet the needs of children and young people and what approaches are taken to engage them effectively, especially those young people who are harder to engage in literacy and/or numeracy learning?

• In what ways have learners been engaged in developing and evaluating approaches in literacy and/or numeracy?

• How have you involved support staff, parents and other partners in your literacy or numeracy approaches?

• What are the outcomes of these approaches in terms of impact on children and young people, the whole-school community and the wider community?
