Quality Meat Scotland Health and Wellbeing - Hungry for Success Award

This category is about taking forward Hungry for Success and pursuing a whole school approach to school meals and healthy eating.

If you can respond positively, and in some detail to one or more of the following questions, we would welcome your nomination:

  • Can you describe how you have worked as a team within the school to help ensure that school meals are healthy and appealing to pupils?

  • How have you increased the uptake of school meals, especially of free school meals within the school? How have you ensured that pupils entitled to free school meals are not openly identified to others?

  • Can you provide detail of how you have you worked in partnership with pupils, catering staff, partners from health, parents or members of the wider community to promote a whole school approach?

  • How has the school developed the social experience of school meals?

  • Can you describe how healthy eating has been explored across the curriculum both within and outwith the classroom?

  • Can you supply examples of innovative approaches to promoting healthy eating that have been carried out in your school?

  • Can you describe how your approach to school meals and healthy eating links to other aspects of health promotion e.g. physical activity, emotional wellbeing.
