Scottish Education Awards

Getting Scotland Active Award

This category recognises schools and pre-schools that have developed opportunities for all children and young people to be active on a regular basis with a wide participation in sports and other physical pursuits.

If you can respond positively and in some detail to the following questions, we would welcome your nomination.

  • What evidence can you provide of good-quality physical education provision and other opportunities for all children and young people to be involved in physical activity and sport across the school and beyond (including outdoor learning)?

  • How have you developed learning to build physical competences, improve aspects of fitness and develop personal and interpersonal skills and attributes in learners?

  • What evidence can you provide which indicates that children and young people are establishing a sustained pattern of regular involvement in physical activity and sport?

  • How have learners been involved in developing the programmes and evaluating them?

  • What partnerships with parents and the wider community (eg clubs, wider local authority providers, and national sports bodies) have you developed to support young people’s activities?

  • What are the outcomes of these approaches in terms of impact on children and young people, the whole-school community and the wider community?

Nominations for the 2010 Scottish Education Awards are now closed.
